Background:

I have both a Bachelor's of Science and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In between obtaining these degrees I worked in Japan for 6 years as an engineer in the automotive industry. These have provided a very substantial foundation for providing translation services.

Translation experience: I have been providing services as a professional Japanese to English technical translator for 15 years. Over this period of time I have translated several hundred patents, numerous technical reports, numerous operator and workshop manuals as well as a lot of miscellaneous materials as well. I have recently worked as lead translator, project manager, and editor for an extensive project consisting of several million words.

I have used SDL Trados and Memsource CAT tools extensively. I have a subscription to Memsource that includes workflow capability enabling me to set up to 15 steps of workflow with associated assignments for each project. Memsource is online so for a larger project involving multiple translators this enables sharing of translation memories and termbases.
