German term or phrase: mit eingerechnet
Concerning the construction of a parochial school in Nebraska (USA) in 1897, the church records include the following information:

Once again, an English word has been introduced (Patischen = partition). I understand that a 6-foot partition is to be made "including the walls." ? However, that makes no sense to me. Is there another meaning of "mit eingerechnet" that I'm unaware of?

Explanation:
I think the confusion comes from the difficulties involved with measuring space. The definition of a square foot seems to be the issue. Believe it or not, there's no legal definition of a square foot, so the author chose to include the walls, making the usable floor space less than indicated. In other words, the partition was made to be six feet minus the width of the walls.

agree  philgoddard: I don't think we can be sure of the meaning, but I also don't see how else you could translate this.
