English term or phrase: Give a helping hand
Primer konteksta: "This project will enable professionals from all over the world to find out and give a helping hand". Ili:
"I am very busy, but yesterday, I tried to give a helping hand by working as a volunteer in a public kitchen for homeless people"

Hvala unapred. Lep pozdrav.

Explanation:
IMHo, there is a difference between to give a helping hand to someone, or just help.

help = I give you something
lend/give a helping hand = I join you and give/teach etc. you something to achieve something ("способности да то постигнете")

neutral  Daryo: you are right that it's not quite the same as simply "helping" you could help by just giving advice or money while to "give a helping hand" you have to get yourself directly involved. OTOH "да допринесете" would not really work.
