We have a problem with Subtitle Workshop 4 v4.00. We downloaded it from the website https://subtitle-workshop.softonic.pl/.

The problem is we can't open any video in this programme. When we choose a video we want to view, we have a communicate: "Cannot render media!" At the same time, some videos can be opened, but we have then only a black screen with a very distorted sound.

We have found that we should use one of programmes for scanning and repairing the computer; however, most of them (if not all of them) offer the latter feature only if we buy them. Then we tried to solve this problem according to the guideline from the website http://microsoftlivesupport.org/subtitle-workshop-cannot-render-media/4lHr85P6-g. We stopped in the first step, however, as after writing the line "sfc/scannow" in cmd.exe we have a communicate: "You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility." It wouldn't be weird unless we checked our account in Windows 10, and we know we do have administrator rights.

We downloaded Subtitle Workshop 6.0b (build 131121) from the website http://www.instalki.pl/programy/download/Windows/multimedia_inne/Subtitle_Workshop.html and tried to open video there, but we have the same problem. Only difference is that, instead of "Cannot render media!", we have a communicate: "[The name and localisation of a video] is not a valid video file."

We tried to open videos with extensions .mov and .mp4, and we noticed that the problem doesn't depend on a type of extension (e.g. we had the abovementioned communicates with .mov as well as .mp4).

Please write whether you know a solution. If you do, please share with it.
